Out of all the things life offers for us to obtain it cannot compare to who we become. It is far more valuable to invest in who you are than what you have. Who you are will always affect how you handle what you have. A great example of becoming is Godliness. Godliness is not what you think. It is not about you being “perfect.” You do not have your own personal harp playing background music with showers of praise from those basking in your presence. Godliness is the opposite of this.
Godliness is you being set apart to be used for the glory of God. This is a life that is focused on being a vessel to bring about good for those around you. Godliness does not come from a place of pride. It is a humble position of servitude. Jesus Christ embodied this perfectly. He served our Heavenly Father by serving us. He still serves us by interceding on our behalf (Hebrews 7:24-25). Godliness is a great gain because it is you reflecting the image of Jesus Christ. Become someone that far exceeds the valuables that you have.
"But godliness with contentment is great gain, 7 for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world."(The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2016), 1 Ti 6:6–7.)
