Devotional Journal: Reflection on Job 1-4
Valuable insight is found in the beginning of the book of Job that we must hold close to. If you read it too fast you might miss something very profound! Satan tried to put God to the test. What God does next shows how much faith He Had in Job. Satan was on a mission to make God out to be a liar. He figured if He could crush Job physically that He would be crushed spiritually and deny God. Yet what God recognized in Job were high quality attributes: blamelessness, unrighteousness, respect (righteous fear), and purity (deliberately avoid sin). Job’s integrity was solid to the point that God was willing to put His reputation on the line for it.
Job is an example to us all to truly reflect on our own walk in Jesus Christ. We to can be servants that God will say “Have you considered My servant”. Jesus Christ endured shame, suffering, pain, death, and persecution. He did this not out of necessity but love. He is the ultimate servant of our Heavenly Father. What Jesus went through was Him putting everything on the line just so that we can always be with Him. God is faithful unto us so much so that we cannot even fathom it all.
7 The LORD said to Satan, “From where have you come?” Satan answered the LORD and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down on it.” 8 And the LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil?”- Job 1:7–8
