Devotional Journal: Reflection on Romans 10:1-4
It can become exhausting keeping tally marks of your “righteous” deeds. Weighing within your mind if all your good deeds outnumbered your bad ones. This way of thinking puts unnecessary stress and pressure on expectations that God has never put on anyone. You have nothing to prove to yourself, others or to God.
Righteous defined by God is never earned it is given. God’s righteous is Jesus Christ. He is the only way to our Heavenly Father. We are made righteous by submitting to God’s righteousness in His Son. Resting in his finished work on the cross. His sacrifice is not only our salvation but our declaration that He Has given us a right to live and not just live now but eternally.
His Righteousness alone. Let your zeal for God be united with His righteousness. This will allow your good deeds to come from a place of love and not duty. You will magnify all that He Has done for you instead of what you have done for God. What a liberating truth that this is. Who the LORD Has set free is truly free indeed.
LORD, my prayer for me and others is that we all may rest in your righteousness. Thank you for giving us such precious promises. Thank you for proving my worth and making me right through Jesus Christ. Amen
10 Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved. 2 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For, being ignorant of the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.-Romans 10:1-4
