Faith is the currency of Heaven. Without it all that is possible will become an impossibility. To intentionally receive from God, one must believe that He is.
We all at some point in time hoped for something. A child, a marriage, a career. You know exactly what that hope is. When the hope is finally manifested it brings forth such a harvest of joy and fulfillment. This is what a manifested hope produces.
Your attitude and thought when coming before a Holy God are much more important than what you are presenting before Him. If I seek God, it must come from a place of sincerity and not one of routine.
