It’s easy to chart out your own path from a self-proclaimed stance. This is ignorance that often goes undetected. Once detected and unchanged, ignorance turns into arrogance because no one can tell you any better. You tell yourself, “This is my path.”, “I’ve carved this out myself!”. How often when this happens the path we have trotted led to a great wandering. A wandering that intends to find purpose, fulfillment, and joy without God’s guidance but this is impossible. I’ve been there at many different times. As I sit here and ponder how I easily fall into this mentality, one common denominator pops up. It is when I lead. When I take charge and control of the driver seat of my life that it all begins to fall apart. I was not made to lead my own life but to be led through life. One cannot merely lead themselves onto the right path. The right path that leads to a life of purpose, fulfillment, and joy is given to those who are humble enough to be led by God.
This journal was inspired by Psalm 107:4-9:
"4 They wandered in the wilderness, in a desert.
They could find no way to a city to inhabit.
5 Hungry and thirsty,
their soul grew faint within them.
6 Then they cried out to Yahweh in their trouble.
He delivered them from their distresses
7 and led them by a straight way
to get to a city to inhabit.
8 Let them give thanks to Yahweh for his loyal love,
and his wonderful deeds for the children of humankind,
9 for he satisfies the longing soul,
and the hungry soul he fills with good." (LEB)
