The Mark
Persecution is the mark of Christianity. We all suffer to different degrees with this lifestyle. It is pain with purpose knowing that the LORD who we serve will never leave us or forsake us. If Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior suffered many things, then we as disciples should understand that we to will share in the same. The LORD is faithful He is our deliverer.
A Blessing?
It is written in the book of Matthew 5:11-12 from Jesus Christ Himself. That those who are persecuted for His sake are blessed. How often do we ask God “why” when things happen to us without just cause? When we are passed up for “opportunities” because of our faith in Jesus? We think that this is punishment when we should be thanking God, for persecution means that our faith is genuine.
Examples
We should not be looking for persecution nor should we pray for such things to come upon us. Instead, let us pray that we would stand firm in the face of persecution as many before us have done. The prophets suffered persecution unto death. Jesus Christ suffered for the sake of all humanity. Paul and the other apostles even went through many different forms of persecution. Let us expect the same. Let us pray for boldness and confidence that our faith may destroy any fear that we carry regarding persecution.
Thank you, LORD, that even in the valley of persecution You are always there.
