To answer this question, one must recognize that they are not their own authority.
We are complex beings. For any being to understand who we are and how to operate. They must come as a human. The one true God has done this through His Son Jesus Christ. He is the ultimate principle for life and life abundantly.
Principles are laws that have the backing power of authority. There are many principles that impacts my life such as the laws of the land I reside in. However, principles that “define” me can only come from the Word of God. God has created us not in our own image. Not in an image of any created thing but in the image of the uncreated. The image of God. This means all that I am can only be defined by what He Has declared of me.
27 So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:27 ESV)
