The Dangers of Ignorance: Lessons from 2 Peter

Devotional Journal: Reflection on 2 Peter 2:10-12

Ignorance=No Bounds

Without boundaries it is easy to speak and act ignorantly regarding things one fail to understand. This was true back in peter’s day, and it is very much true today. If we fail to guard our heart and mind than we can fall into the trap of speaking against things we have no knowledge of. This is a Boundless position to be in. One in which you can easily bring judgement upon yourself.

God is the head of ALL authority. He alone put beings (Human, and non-human) into these roles know as dignitaries. Some honor Him in this, and others use their God given authority to be against Him. God will not be mocked. Just as He gives, He also holds accountable.

You may ask yourself this question: “What is my role in all of this?” I have learned that whatever the LORD has revealed to me and backed by His Word Is enough. Humility is an indicator that you are on the right path and any other “revelation” is of the flesh or even demonic. Especially that which exalts itself against Jesus Christ. Let us always respond to authority in a way that will honor God. For after all, any power we have is borrowed from the LORD.

"10 and especially those who indulge in the lust of defiling passion and despise authority.
Bold and willful, they do not tremble as they blaspheme the glorious ones, 11 whereas angels, though greater in might and power, do not pronounce a blasphemous judgment against them before the Lord. 12 But these, like irrational animals, creatures of instinct, born to be caught and destroyed, blaspheming about matters of which they are ignorant, will also be destroyed in their destruction,"-2 Peter 2:10-12 (ESV)
