Devotional Journal: Reflection on 1 John 3:1
Love, it is incredibly undervalued and so essential to our very existence. We all need it, even those who reject it. Love is always given and can never be earned or else it would not be love. It is one thing to be loved by another person but to be loved by God to the point that He declares us as his children! A love so great that the “world” cannot recognize it because of its denial of knowing Him.
As your child this means that you are responsible for me. You provide, comfort, teach, guide, and protect me. You give and allow what is best for me. Your understanding of who I am is greater than my own understanding of myself. Being known by you is more than enough. For those that You recognize will never be forgotten.
LORD, I cannot even fathom the love you graciously give unto me every day. Even during dark days your love remains. When I am hard to love, You remind me that you have never left me. Truly indeed, “what manner of love the Father has bestowed.” A love given from the Most High.
“3 See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him”-1 John 3:1 (ESV)
