Devotional Journal: Reflection on Luke 8:26-40
Physical restraint cannot restrain that which is spiritual, but the spiritual can bound you physically and spiritually. We find this to be true as we read in the New Testament of a man possessed with so many demons that He was only identified by the name of those demons: Legion. This man was incarcerated physically and spiritually. He was a “lost cause” according to the people who knew Him within that region. No amount of physical help could free this man from His condition. No help was found until one person stepped on the scene, Jesus Christ.
In fact, this was the reason Jesus came to this gentile land. To set free him who was bound by demons. This showed that He was not only savior of the Jews but all people. Jesus Christ Has power over all things whether they are physical or spiritual. There are no bounds that He cannot free us from.
