Ambition and contentment two topics that are on the opposite side of each other or so we think. Ambition is the desire and drive for more. Contentment is maximizing your current situation and what you have now. These two have two different focuses. One has its sights set on the next thing. Looking for ways to achieve the next goal. The other is finding joy in the now with patience and endurance.
The determining factor that adds morality or immorality is our heart. What drives us, the things we think, what we say and do will always point back to our heart. To dig a little deeper, we can ask ourselves questions like: Will it be beneficial or detrimental to me and those around me? Is it healthy to be here? Is this a place where I can enjoy God’s blessings?
If God is at the center of our ambitions what we pursue will please God. Contentment with God in the midst can make the current situation full of joy because of His presence. When God is our foundation, we can see things in a new light. Ambition and contentment at odds? No, I think all things can work together for good unto those who love God and are His.
