God’s Will Over Position

Devotional Journal: Reflection on the Will of God

When it comes to the Will of God nothing can impede it. No power, authority, or position is able to override it. Its multifaceted, His Will applies to all of time (past, present, future) that extends into eternity. When we are actively in His Will, we can fall into a mindset that our position or authority needs to match the gravity of the desired outcome.

For an example, say that you are a ruler over a large army. Another ruler may come against you with greater forces. You will ration in your mind that you need more soldiers to defeat the enemy that has come against you. You will not obtain victory in your own power. Your position will not determine your outcome. Submission to His Will over the situation is the best place to be for victory (Joshua 5:13-15).

So, my example may be far-fetched when you look at it from today’s point of view. How many of us are rulers with an army? Lol. Even though the example may not reflect the battles we face today. The principles are still the same. We face different battles, spiritual ones every day. Our position may be inferior, but God’s desired Will is not. His will for us is victory. Thankfully victory is not found in our position but in His desired Will for us to submit ourselves to Him (James 4:7-8).

LORD, I thank you that victory is not found in my own strength. I’m thankful that your desires for me are always good. Help me to not sabotage any good that you have for me by my own rational way of thinking or self-reliance. May my Will be aligned with yours that Your desired outcome will be my outcome. Amen

13 When Joshua was by Jericho, he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a man was standing before him with his drawn sword in his hand. And Joshua went to him and said to him, “Are you for us, or for our adversaries?” 14 And he said, “No; but I am the commander of the army of the LORD. Now I have come.” And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped and said to him, “What does my lord say to his servant?” 15 And the commander of the LORD’s army said to Joshua, “Take off your sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did so.-Joshua 5:13-15

7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.-James 4:7-8
