Stewardship: Maintenance Required

Devotional Journal: Reflection on stewardship

It’s not what you have but how you steward what you have. Attitude plays a critical role when it comes to stewardship. It affects everything from positions to possessions. It all matters and can be a deciding factor on your increase or decrease.

Some are born with great financial responsibility. Others came from the bottom and obtained great heights. No matter where you are or what you have. I believe the real importance lies in how it is managed. Day to day care or slow leak neglect, the deciding factor is in your power.

Now, I’m not a money guru, nor am I wealthy. I cannot give tips on how to run a business. All I have to offer is insight given to me by God upon reading His word. I know He cares deeply about how we steward His resources and we will give an account on our stewardship (Matthew 25:14-30).

Did I use His gifts to build and up lift? Did I only gratify my desires and “enclosed myself in cedar”? Was I faithful in the small things? Looking back and even looking at the present I know that I haven’t done the best but by His grace I still have opportunity to do better. Your stewardship is not over yet. You and I still have much work to do!

LORD, help me understand the gravity of responsibility. Teach me to steward well. May all that I do for you produce a bountiful harvest.
